Storm and Cyclone Clean Up in Townsville
After the wind drops, we make it safe
We played a big part in the clean up after Cyclones Larry and Yasi, and the weather events in between. We work closely with a number of large insurers.

We have done this before
Between us we have lived and worked in Townsville and North Queensland for more than twenty years, and we know how quickly things change up here. We played a big part in the clean up after Cyclones Larry and Yasi, and the other weather events in between.
That matters most in the first day or two, when the tree is down but still holding energy. Trunks under compression, limbs hung up in other trees, root plates ready to stand back up. It is not the same job as a standing tree, and it is not a job for a hire chainsaw.
If a tree has come down on your place
- Stay well clear, particularly of anything involving wires. Treat every wire as live
- Do not climb on it, cut into it or put a ladder against it
- Keep children and pets inside and away from the root plate
- Photograph it from a safe distance before anything is moved, for the insurer
- Ring us and describe what it is sitting on
Insurance work
We work closely with a number of large insurers and we specialise in making safe trees that have blown over onto houses and other property. We understand what an assessor needs to see and we document the job as we go, so the claim is supported by more than a memory.
If you have already lodged a claim, tell us the insurer and the claim number when you call. If you have not, we can make the tree safe first and sort the paperwork after. Nothing about the claim process should stop a dangerous tree being dealt with.
Getting ready for the season
Most of the damage we clean up was predictable. Deadwood that had been there for two years, a limb over the roof that everyone had noticed, a tree with a union that had been splitting since the last big blow. A pre season inspection and a bit of crown work is a fraction of the cost of a clean up, and a lot less disruptive than one.

What the job looks like
Access first, then the trees on structures, then the rest of the mess.

The detail
What you get
Make safe first
Trees on houses, over access and near wires get dealt with before anything cosmetic.
Documented as we go
Photos and notes through the job, so the assessor is not relying on anyone's memory.
Larry and Yasi
Plus every weather event since. We know what a loaded trunk does when you cut it wrong.
Pre season inspection
Most of what we clean up was visible months earlier. A crown clean is far cheaper.
Questions
Asked and answered
If yours is not here, ring us. We would rather talk it through than have you guessing at it.
A tree is on my house right now, what do I do?
Stay out of the affected part of the house, keep everyone well clear, and treat any wire as live. Do not cut anything and do not climb on it. Ring us and describe what the tree is resting on.
Will my insurer cover it?
Most policies cover making safe and removal where a tree has damaged an insured structure. Cover for a tree that has simply fallen in the yard varies a lot. Photograph it before anything moves and talk to your insurer early.
Do you work directly with insurers?
Yes. We work closely with a number of large insurers and we document jobs as we go so the claim is properly supported.
How fast can you get here after a storm?
After a major event we work through a triage list, with trees on houses and blocking access first. Ring rather than email so we can put you in the right place on that list.
